In the middle of my visit to Copenhagen I was treated to one of their famous Baltic low-pressure areas, which brought thirty-six consecutive hours of drenching rainfall.

Rainy days in Copenhagen
This had a somewhat dampening effect on bicycle traffic. Instead of the usual 500,000 there were only about 300,000 cyclists on the streets (my estimate), which was a noticeable reduction but still more than you’ve ever seen in your life if you happen to come from some over-motorized country.
My photos and text in this post are from 2009. I arranged them here in 2019.

Nice feature on the bicyclists of Copenhagen. But I still think Amsterdam ups the ante. At least in Copenhagen, they do not run you down with ferocity. 🙂
Love that rain! We are suffering drought conditions so please send a little our way 🙂
36 hours of straight rain, sounds pretty miserable for bikers!
cyclists at Copenhagen and scooters at Jakarta the world is changing lol!!!
I was last in Copenhagen in September 2011 for the UCI Road World Championships and couldn’t get over the number of cyclists. It much reminded me of Amsterdam.
